John Piper on When We Sense that We’re Not Where We Ought to Be

We all enter times when we realize our spiritual lives aren’t what they should be. In an Ask Pastor John installment I came across recently, I was encouraged to be reminded that even Paul, in Philippians 3:12, recognized that he wasn’t where he wanted to be. Piper says it’s good for us to realize, like Paul, that  we “have [not] already obtained this or [are not] already perfect, but [we] press on to make it [our] own, because Christ Jesus has made [us] his own.”

So, while taking encouragement from our unmerited acceptance from the Father, we can press on, knowing that it is His pleasure to enable us to grow more and more into the likeness of His Son.
